I loved summer, but it sure took it’s toll on my hair and skin. I tried to stay hydrated as much as I can but sometimes I needed an extra boost. For starters with my face. I’ve been taking care of my skin a lot more than ever this year, and I’ve been obsessed with skin care in general. I love me a good trusty moisturizer, so when I find a keeper it’ll become a staple in my daily skin care regimen.I’ve particularly grown addicted to; Vichy’s Mineral 89. I’ve been religiously using it for exactly a year since it’s launch, been through four bottles to be exact so you bet its been tried and tested to the point where it deserves this review.
What is it?
A REALLY great moisturizer. That basically looks and feels like fresh water in a bottle. It’s made up of this really rich 15 mineral water (89% of it to be exact) from the region of Auvergne in France and Hyaluronic Acid. The water in the formula will obviously moisturize and enhance your skin, while the acid will bind that moisture to your skin to make sure it looks plumped and hydrated. Its has a lightweight serum texture so forget about that sticky, thick feeling that I know annoys a lot of us. It’s literally a splash and boost of fresh water on your face which you can use as a first step after you wash your face both during the day and at night.
Why Is it Different?
Because it actually works. Like work works. Not sponsored review works. Imagine your skin is a dried prune that needs to go back to being a fresh plum. Anything dry needs to be moisturized, because essentially dryness is what causes fine lines and wrinkles to appear, and although this is not an anti-age product nor does it claim to be, I like to think of it as the first line of defense against dryness which if let untreated can cause wrinkles. It has this ability to absorb deep into your skin and you will start to feel results within a week maybe even less depending on how much you really need it. I’ve read raving reviews about it and it really deserves the hype. Get it, try it, you’ll get hooked!
How I Use Mineral 89?
Daily. Religiously. First thing when I wake up. Even before my oil. I like to keep it on for at least half an hour before I apply anything else. Or alone if I’m off to yoga or a workout out. And at night, when I remove my makeup and wash my face. And also about an hour before my night cream. You don’t have to wait like I do, but I enjoy the texture so much and the freshness it makes me feel.
Since we’re on the topic of Vichy products I love, I also wanted to share with you a hair care solution I’ve discovered post-pregnancy. As a lot of you know due to hormones during pregnancy a woman’s hair gets beautiful and thick and probably the best it’s ever looked. However and unfortunately, this hair state of perfection phase doesn’t last. A couple of months after childbirth that same woman who was loving her hair will probably experience a substantial amount of hair loss, at times even alarming. It’s happened to me twice and although there is not much to do to prevent this from occurring, there are some products from Vichy which I discovered the second time around that have seriously helped with the loss and thinning and even more with the speed of regrowth and volume. I’ll break it down in steps for you…
Step 1:
Dercos- Densi Solutions Thickening Shampoo
This one will work to strengthen your hair density, something I had never complained from before, until I gave birth. It’s thickened my thinning weak hair, and given me immediate volume. You can use it several times a week, it’s not just a treatment, I use it twice a week now since my hair is back to full lion king glory.
Step 2:
Dercos- Restoring Thickening Balm
Think of this as the conditioner to be used with the Thickening Shampoo above, like most after shampoo balms this will work to detangle and moisturize your hair will working to regenerate the hair fibers to become, stronger and thicker.
Step 3:
Dercos: Hair Mass Recreating Concentrate
The final and my personal favorite step, I think the name of this serum pretty much is self-explanatory. Like I said my hair was falling out in bunches, and it worried me. I do have days were that still occurs, especially during the summer, when I expose my hair in too much chlorine from swimming. What you do is spray this on your roots, and then just message it onto your scalp after you wash and condition your hair. Mind you it has a strong invigorating scent which some may love or hate, I’m not a huge fan, but for those results, I’ll handle it any day, because it worked so well for me. I actually shot these photos with the products when I had just started my treatment to show you the state of my hair then, so don’t hesitate to flip through my Instagram feed to see my currently very thick ( and very voluminous) hair. Although I use the shampoo and conditioner not as frequently anymore, I do still use the Hair Mass Recreating Concentrate after every shower and I think I’ll keep using it preventatively.
