Lebanese artist Najwa Karam never really created any controversy except for the fact that she made a complete comeback looking like an entirely different person who seemed to have discovered the fountain of youth, (and by the way whoever was in charge of that makeover really did a good job.)
But on last week’s Mtv Lebanon’s Talk Of The Town show, the 46 year old songstress was asked by host Mona Abou Hamze to list different men, that if combined, would make her ideal man. Two of her choices were utterly appalling not to mention extremely disappointing from someone with her influence.
First she chose Hitler, yes you read correctly, Adolf Hitler, she said, for his “charisma” and his ability to carry out a speech. The sad part is no one really raised an eyebrow or even attempted to challenge that irresponsible and ignorant reply. How is it that in this day and age, a public figure, specifically a somewhat liberal woman, would advocate or publicly applaud a characteristic of HITLER?
Her first choice was so shocking that no one really noticed her absurd final choice when she proudly announced very matter-of-factly that she would also choose Aristotle Onassis “for his money!” Now why would a platinum, best-selling artist whose probably acquired significant funds from her successful career still choose a man for his fortune? What sort of message does that send out to hard working women?
Thank you Najwa Karam, for using your influence to spread such dangerous ethical values and low moral standards to young Arab women in the Middle East.
Update: It was brought to my attention that Najwa Karam is in fact L’Oreal’s first Arab ambassador and spokesperson as well as the face of L’Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair. I’m curious to see how L’Oreal plans to handle this “situation”

Despite the fact that I am with you on the fact that too many “celebrities” in the Lebanese/Arab sphere talk brain-dead trash and are more often than not a serious shame to their countries, I can’t say I agree much this time. Please note I am no fan of Ms. Karam herself, however: first of all, she didn’t condone Hitler’s actions, she mentioned a specific trait. And if Hitler doesn’t have charisma, I don’t know who does. He may have been a demon spewed onto earth straight from hell, but you can’t deny his charisma or some of his other impressive personality traits. Have you ever watched him speak?
Next, the sad reality is that too many people who have money want to marry into money, be they men or women. And it’s even more common in our society. It’s always better to combine wealth than to have to split it, and in her case, she most probably didn’t want to be the one providing for some guy who’ll take her as a “sugar momma.” Plus, many if not most women like to look up to their men. (and just in case I seem to be knocking what will be pulled as an anti-feminist card, I am no anti-feminist. I believe a woman has the right to make her own choices, and if her choice is that, then so be it, and if her choice is equality or even domination, then so be it – whatever floats the couple’s boat.)
I second that , She didn’t praise him for God sake she just mentioned one of his traits that made him a significant historical figure in our world, and I see nothing wrong with that. Do not make up things !

it is absurd how you get to interpret her words this way, Hitler a very famous person in history, must have had something to teach everyone out of his famous life, if Najwa chose to address a quality of a bad person, it is exactly the same as being amazed by the precision and organization of a serial killer.. meaning theres always lessons to be learnt from people’s walk through life..
as for Aristotle, the answer was perfect, she was asked what qualities would make a perfect man for any woman.. Wealth is a positive quality for a man to have, its not that Najwa specifically needs a wealthy man.. :S
