Did you ever want to stop that over-the-top dressed housewife at the supermarket and explain to her that just because Maya Diab’s turned herself into a living/breathing anime wonder it doesn’t mean that she too can dress up in leather suspenders and spike-studded oversized shoulder pads just to pick up some kebbeh?
Maya Diab’s is all about making a fashion statement and pushing the boundaries, and yes, sure, she’s positioned herself as a household name, landing herself some hefty endorsement deals. She takes good pictures, but the woman refuses to change that look on her face, the squinting eyes and over-pouting lips. She always poses like she’s posing and don’t even get me started on the way she handles herself on television. Had she at least tried to keep things subtle she may not be as ridiculed as she is today. To be fair her favourite designer Nicolas Jebran is a VERY talented designer. Now if only the two of them can work on the concept less is more.

Well Maya Diab has naturally had some form of plastic surgery which changed her face but she is hot and yes, maybe extra- but besides her and Myriam Fares- the Arab and Lebanese music industries lack in characters beyond what is mainstream. I’m tired of the cliche music videos, and the same fancy dresses, (that are beautiful but so outdone), the boring concert style and all that combined. I mean all that works but only if you are an older singer. The new generation needs to update themselves and expand on their talents. At that, I’d say Maya is beautiful regardless of the procedures and all the extra ish. Then for her show- I’ve watched it a few times. I enjoy it. I compare her to all other female TV hosts who work in the same area she does and they lack personality. She has lots of personality and she doesn’t hide (I feel) her true self. There’s a lot of fakeness on our TV screens and her realness is refreshing and makes her likeable. Though I can also say Mona Abo Hamzeh is pretty up there too for that. People hate on Maya Diab for two reasons: 1) She represents everything they perceive our culture is not. 2) They think she tries too hard to be like Lady Gaga or the likes. Both very much untrue if you looked at Maya alone and didn’t compare her to others. She truly is her own personality- something that could work here because thats as extra as it gets. Finally, as a Lebanese audience, we tend to find it VERY easy to hate on fellow Lebanese in the spotlight.

Thumbs up for Maya.. i can’t imagine anyone else hosting “Hek menghane”, she’s edgy and perfect for the show. Of course she’s not subtle, but that’s not a wrong thing at all

She needs too be a real fashionista to do that show.. try wearing these empire state heels and not falling on your butt
