One of the first high-end makeup items I bought was the YSL Touche Eclat. But before I tell you more about that I have to admit I have always been so drawn to the brand even as a little girl, the obvious stunning packaging is a no-brainer but my infatuation with YSL beauty goes a little deeper than that.
Like most girls I grew up oohing and ahhing over my mother’s makeup collection. There was a je ne sais quoi about makeup in the eighties and nineties, especially high-end makeup, it was a romantic beautiful time for makeup, when red lipstick made regular appearances even to the park, where a lipstick really looked like a lipstick, and where women wouldn’t shy away from extending their eye shadow to their brow bone. I remember how my mother would tuck each YSL palette carefully in its velvet pouch like it were jewelry to protect its surface and keep it looking new. The YSL logo would always stand out to me. She would catch me in her pair of heels with a streak of her YSL red lipstick on my face prancing around the house.
So growing up, YSL was the obvious choice for me. When I was 16 I received my first the Touch Eclat. It was iconic for the brand, launched for the first time in 1991, and now a staple in every beauty bag. Sure, it’s been imitated by every brand out there, but it still stands as one of the most sought-after highlighter pens in the market even before highlighting was a thing.
There’s also a common misconception about the Touche Eclat, because although it is meant to brighten the area around the eyes, it is by no means a concealer nor should it be used as one. It’s an all over highlighter, that should be strategically placed on certain areas of the face to lighten up your look, remove fatigue lines, and bring a touch of radiance to your overall complexion post makeup application. It’s been a life saver for me, since I hardly get my 8 hours of sleep with a new baby in the house.
This Spring YSL Beauty has given the Touche Eclat a makeover with the upcoming launch of its Slogan Edition, in 3 limited slogans to match all our personalities: I Am Not a Morning Person, No Need to Sleep, and All Lights On Me.
I am so proud to be personally hosting the private launch that will take place this week and I’ve gone ahead and prepared and fast video below to demonstrate in which areas of my face I use it.
I’m also giving 3 lucky ladies the chance to receive a special invite to the launch, and walk away with their own slogan edition of the Touch Eclat that best fits their personality. All you have to do is repost the photo I have on Instagram, get all the details here.
The Touche Eclat Slogan Edition will be available in limited quantities at YSL Beauty point of sale at ABC Department Store in Beirut.
