It’s no secret I’ve been utterly obsessed with everything Yves Saint Laurent beauty as of lately. I was lucky enough to have their lovely team of makeup artists work on my look for my recent radio show promotional shoot and I’ve also been gushing over their new collection on the blog for some time now.
Although I often shop for perfumes I seldom ever use them all and they end up as decorating pieces on my makeup table since I usually prefer sticking to one or two favorite scents tops. But when YSL sent over their recently released Black Opium I knew this wasn’t going to be a phase. I was addicted.
It now one of my signature scents and favorite fragrances to date from YSL, derived from its 1977 classic Opium, this one highlights the dark and mysterious side of the original. A new character emerges with Black Opium, a restless, complex and dramatic woman who’s both playful and serious all the time, a woman who’s impulsive and always on the move and someone who lives her life with passion. A woman I can most definitely relate to.
Trust me when I say Black Opium smells just as good as it looks. It has notes of coffee ,electric pink pepper, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli and cedar and is one of those scents that lingers on even after you’ve left the room.
I first wore this perfume to a wedding in Dubai, and it complemented my look perfectly. I was feeling quite adventurous and wore a matte black gown with a thigh-high slit that was embellished and matched the gorgeous Black Opium bottle perfectly, almost like a clutch.
