I was facing the same problem, I couldn’t find buttermilk here for all my baking needs, even at TSC Signature, so what I use is actually powdered buttermilk rather than the fresh one, that I ask friends to get me from the US or Canada. I find that it’s just the same as the fresh one. But for the closest result, you can use dense 100% full fat whipping cream, it may not be 100% the same but it gets the job done. Goodluck!

You can always and easily get buttermilk from regular. Just pour 1 cup of and then add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice or white vinegar and let it stand for 5 minutes. et voila! π
