hi again genevieve, i'm sorry if my previous comment came across as unkind, i have been feeling very guilty about it & that it's not in the spirit of the holy week :( so i thought i should write again to apologize.

none of us can have any idea about this horrible experience you went through, i guess my point really should have just been that i hope you can recognize how many people's hearts and prayers were with you after what happened & still are with you.

sorry again x

genevieve, very glad you're ok and don't feel it was a big deal (???), but can't you recognize that this was a blog full of people who were concerned about you and only wishing you the best???

3anjad you should be embarrassed of yourself for reacting this way and not living up to the kind words your friends wrote about you.

anyways, thanks for giving the true story, and hope u get the help you need!

I don't think people were commenting or telling the story in bad faith. Personally this is a story that really choked me and I couldn't find a proper account of it anywhere. I drive alone a lot and I wanted to know what happened so that I could be on the look out for similar signs (knock on wood).

One of the problems we have in this country is that these cases of urban violence are very seldom properly covered, resulting in people telling a story they heard from people that knew the victim of the act.

I think that cases like yours should be properly covered so that it won't happen again. I am awfully sorry it happened to you but I am glad to hear that you are fine.

What we should do as citizens is demand that such stories be PROPERLY covered by the media (not necessarily disclosing the victims name if they don't want to) but revealing what really happened.

People, especially a lot of girls, think that it's still safe to walk around Beirut at 3:30 in the morning. There have been rumors of rape and robbery, but they always remain rumors and we are never told what really happened.

Once again I am glad you are fine, and thank you for telling us the real story.

Oh yes, and the man did not attack me for money, he simply wanted my car so he could go rob a pharmacy, which he did. He then attacked the police that went after him, hence the THREE bullet holes in my car. For while he was escaping the police shot at the car. They then ditched the car in Ramlet el Baidah and went on their ways. The front seat was not covered in blood, there was hardly any blood found in the car. All 3 men are in custody, including the stabber as of yesterday.

I think that before you people go on telling stories you should get the facts straight. It is rude and not right to go telling stories about people in such situations. I was stabbed 3 times, twice in the stomach once in the leg, NOT anywhere near my breasts. This occurred at 8:50 PM, not 10:00 PM nor 2:30 AM. I was not roaming the streets with unlocked doors late hours in the night thank you. The man entered the car, stabbed me twice in the stomach, then told me to get out of the car. He then asked me for my money and purse when I told him he is sitting on it. Then he told me to get out of the car and stabbed me in my leg, when I willingly opened the car door and left the car, WALKING to the sidewalk. I was not THROWN anywhere. I have been home for a few weeks now and am perfectly fine, so there really is no need for all this hype you all are creating. If everyone worried about themselves as much as they worry about others then this world would be a much better place. Thank you for your concern, but it is misplaced.

It's Gen, actually. Jad got most of it right. She's been out of the hospital since tuesday, and the police chased him down and found the car (which had 26 bullet holes in it) but he still got away.
Gen's ok. Thanks for caring guys. I know this means alot to her.

Jad- thanks for clearing that up

I'm very happy to hear that Jen is in stable condition and she needs to know that we are all rooting for her. Hopefully she will come out of this stronger than ever and maybe even help police identify this scumbag who deserves to rot in prison for this. This type of violence against anyone , man or women is appalling and needs to come to an end.

Lorena I agree with you, the police here are more of an annoyance than they are of help.I also don't understand why they don't patrol the streets more, even at early hours of the morning. Every now and then they end up doing a drill somewhere in Gemmayze which doesn't make sense to me, instead they need to be out on those highways and streets keeping us safe.
Let's hope they'll start listening.

Actually, she's my sister's friend and the report from An Nahar is not really accurate. The event took place at 2:30am. She was in her car waiting for a friend who was heading from Jounieh. The car was unlocked. Suddenly a man opened the front passenger door and stabed her in the stomach. He then told her to give him all her money. She told him that he's sitting on her purse. He then stabed her again. Then he told her to get out of the car. She grabbed her phone and as soon as she opened the door, he stabbed her two more times. He drove off with the car. The car was found in Ramlet Al Baida with the front seat soaked in blood. There was an incident earlier within Metn where a police officer was attacked by a man with a knife while the man was trying to rob a pharmacy. Police not sure if the two incidents are connected.

Jen is still in hospitalized but is in stable condition. She was moved out of the ICU earlier today.

I feel the same way! You rarely see a police car anywhere in Lebanon and even if you do, they don't make you feel safe anyway.. especially if you're a woman :S

It's a basic security issue that can easily be resolved by putting more police (not army men) on the streets and training them the right way.. Why don't they figure it out already? Do they enjoy the suspense of hunting down these criminals and car thieves?
