The Bra Thing on Facebook

Ok. Lets talk about the Breast Cancer Initiative going on on Facebook, if your a girl and your on Facebook then you know what I’m talking about.  There are many schools of thought on this issue out there. First if the sole purpose was to spread awareness about breast cancer, then it was successful. I like it , its different and that’s why it works as a campaign. Not to mention the sexual context it has which makes it provocative and therefore attractive. But this is where I’m on the fence,  guys are now able to stop imagining and actually KNOW the color of our underwear. But is that necessarily a good thing? I’ve had a couple of discussions with some friends about this. One of my friends is actually appalled by the entire thing. She thinks that completely sexualizing ( I just made that word up) women  feeds into the already negative stereotype of women in this country and she “utterly refuses to share the color of her bra with her friends on Facebook.” She said that if we look at most of the comments of guys on Facebook, they are silly and perverted with hardly no mention of breast cancer. For some reason too it has managed to annoy some guys, but that’s an entire different issue, more to do with guys and their insecurities, some even said it was ” sakhafeh” or silly. But what do you think? Did this initiative serve its purpose? Bisoux
